Somos en escrito Literary Foundation Press is dedicated to publishing raza authors to express the narratives and needs of our communities, which typically get overlooked by the mainstream presses. We intend to be the institution nobody else will build for us.
We seek to publish books that look to the future, where gente exist, that finds solutions in storytelling, rather than provide mere visibility. We promote narratives that break cycles, call to action: fiction that goes hand in hand with our nonfiction books that allow our community to do more than gaze in the mirror, but meditate on solutions within, the future, and transformation.

Bella Collector of Cuentos
|
Bella, Collector of Cuentos is about a girl who is pulled into a realm of spirits and ancestors to record their cuentos and wisdom. Bella is about the importance of remembering the dead, connecting to the folktales that create culture and revitalizing who we are.
Carmen Baca taught high school and college English for thirty-six years before retiring in 2014. Her debut novel El Hermano published in April of 2017 and became a finalist in the NM-AZ book awards program in 2018. Her third book, Cuentos del Cañón, received first place for short story fiction anthology in 2020 from the same program. To date, she has published 6 books and close to 60 short works in online literary magazines and anthologies. She and her husband live a quiet life in the country caring for their animals and any stray cat that happens to come by. |

Abuela Lore

A debut poetry collection about a young poet's connection to her grandmothers and their stories.
In the writer's own words: At its core, “Abuela Lore” is a love letter to my abuelas. I was raised by both of them. I would go on yearly trips to Ecuador to visit my Mami Yolis and the rest of my family. Mami Yolis, as the unofficial matriarch of the house, made sure my sisters and I were happy and healthy. Back in the States, my abuela, who we call Chica, raised me. She lived in our house for 15 years, taking care of my sisters and me.
Both Chica and Mami Yolis always told us stories of their youth. I grew up with so much respect for all the heartbreak they endured. My respect and appreciation for them grew even more as I got older. I decided to tell some of those stories in “Abuela Lore.”
Author Bio
Isabella Santana is a nineteen year-old poet and activist from Los Angeles. Isabella’s struggles in adolescence inspired her to write her poetry for the hurting and the unheard. This led her on a long journey, which resulted in her becoming a Los Angeles Youth Poet Ambassador in 2022 and 2023. In 2022, she wrote and performed a poem for the radio and broadcasting company Univision at their 60th-anniversary gala.

From the foreward: These are poems of witness, bearing testament to the experience of the COVID-19 pandemic through the experience of self. To write as a poet of witness to the COVID-19 pandemic presents the distinct challenge of point of view. In sequestration one’s experience becomes intensely personal. Observations of others become masked and virtual. There is no vantage point from which to trace the shape or scale of what is transpiring.
